Seven supporters of controversial independent Uttar Pradesh legislator and former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya have been arrested in Pratapgarh district for their involvement in several criminal cases, a police official said Monday.

'Those arrested were wanted in several cases of abduction and extortion. We have booked all seven under the Gangster Act,' Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Hari Ram Sharma told IANS.

He added that the seven people were arrested Sunday in a drive to nab anti-social elements.
