One worker was killed and another seriously injured when a earth wall collapsed at the Punjab and Haryana High Court complex here Monday.

The accident occurred when the earth wall of an area being dug up for controlling seepage in underground pipes in the high court complex gave way.

The deceased was identified as Sanjay Jagat, a migrant labourer from Bihar. The other labourer, Dubey, was admitted to a government hospital in a serious condition.

Though nearly 10 labourers were working there, others managed to save themselves while two of them got buried. One of the workers was trapped under the loose earth for over an hour.

Both were rushed to the government multi-specialty hospital in Sector 16 here for treatment. One of them was referred to the Post-graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here where doctors declared him dead.
