A huge consignment of zirconium stones, popularly known as American diamonds, worth Rs.40 million concealed in a biscuit container was seized here Monday, customs officials said.

Detained recipient K.N.J. Khan told the officials that the consignment from Malaysia purported to contain only consumables and cosmetics was sent to his address in southern Tamil Nadu in return for a paltry sum, they added.

The artificially made look-alike of diamonds are used in jewellery.
