Missing boys from Ahmedabad school found dead

From correspondents in Gujarat, India, 12:31 AM IST

Two students of the Bapu Asharam Ashram here, missing since Friday night, were found dead Sunday in the riverbed behind the school premises under mysterious circumstances.

The bodies were recovered after some people moving around in the almost dry riverbed saw a leg protruding.

'The cause of the death is drowning,' said investigating officer K.V. Jhala.

However, the Sabarmati river was virtually dry and the bodies were found buried.

A police team dug out the bodies of the two boys, aged 11 and said to be cousins. They have been identified as Dipesh Praful Vaghela of class 5 and Abhishek Shantilal Vaghela of class 6.

The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem.
