Supreme Court considers ways to probe judicial corruption

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 02:59 PM IST

The Supreme Court Monday decided to examine possible methods of investigating an allegation of corruption against 26 members of the judiciary, including a serving apex court judge.

Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan asked eminent jurist Fali S. Nariman to meet him in his chambers July 14 to discuss the various possible methods to probe an accusation by a Ghaziabad court clerk that several judges were corrupt.

During an investigation against him in a corruption case, the clerk claimed before a judicial magistrate that seven Allahabad High Court judges and 12 district judges were also involved.
