Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sanctioned Rs.500,000 each to the families of the two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel and an Afghan watchman who were killed in Monday's bomb attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul, an official statement Thursday said.

ITBP troopers Ajai Pathania and Roop Singh, and the Afghan guard were killed when a car driven by a suicide bomber blew up at the embassy gates.

The prime minister also went to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences to call on two injured ITBP personnel who were injured in the blast and are recuperating in the hospital.

Compensation of Rs.200,000 each has been sanctioned for the two troopers from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, the statement said.

Manmohan Singh will Friday be calling on the families of Brigadier R.D. Mehta and V.V. Rao, the defence attache and press counsellor respectively at the Indian mission, who were killed in the terror strike.

'Financial and other support for the families of the two deceased is being provided by the government of India. Detailed information will be announced by the concerned ministries,' the statement said.
