Suspected Maoist guerrillas attacked a police station and blew up a government office in Bihar's Jamui district early Friday, police said. No casualties were reported.

A group of armed rebels first attacked the Lakshmipur police station and then blasted the block office of Jamui district, about 200 km from here.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar said there was exchange of fire between policemen and the Maoists but no casualties had been reported.

"Maoist guerrillas opened fire on policemen to create panic and bombed the block office," Kumar said.

A few days ago, Maoist rebels bombed the Chitriya block office near Motihari, district headquarters of East Champaran.
