A postgraduate prisoner has petitioned the Tamil Nadu government for the early release of over 250 lifers in a prison, official sources said Friday.

Milleth Ismail sent a bunch of petitions to the government Thursday, the sources said. Ismail said he represented over 250 life convicts who have completed eight years in the Palayamkottai central prison in Tirunelveli district.

'Even though we are alive, our wives are living as widows and children yearn for paternal love,' Ismail, presently on parole to present his postgraduate dissertation, said in the covering letter of his petition.
