Seven militants arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

Seven Harkat-ul-Jihad-Islami (HuJI) militants were arrested by the police for a terror attack in Kishtwar district in which four personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), including commanding officer Lt Col Ajay Verma, were killed, the police said Friday.

The BRO team was on its way to Sinthan Pass, about 250 km northeast of Jammu, on a road inspection tour when their vehicle was ambushed June 13 by militants in a remote, mountainous area.

Commanding Officer of 118 Road Construction Company Lt Col Ajay Verma, his second-in-command S.P. Sharma and two soldiers of the 155 territorial army battalion were killed.

K. Rajendra, inspector general of police Jammu zone, confirmed that the case has been worked out.

Sources said the seven militants were arrested during various raids conducted over the past nearly one month in the hilly areas of Kishtwar district.
