Inter-state gang making fake herbal medicines busted

Two people were arrested and a large quantity of fake herbal medicines seized after police raided an office of a private company, allegedly run by an inter-state gang, in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district, police said Saturday.

''Those arrested are employees of a private company, G.S.A. marketing, and revealed that the company operates in other states including Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Punjab,'' police officer R.S. Mathur told IANS.

Acting on a tip-off, we raided the office in Manankpur area of Gonda, about 100 km from Lucknow, and recovered fake herbal medicines and cosmetics worth over Rs. 1.5 crore (Rs. 15 million), he added.

Taking the help of police in other states, the remaining employees of the company involved in making fake herbal products will soon be nabbed, police said.
