Three people sustained bullet wounds when government officials were fired upon while trying to make squatters vacate state-owned land here Thursday.

The 'land grabbers' fired on the officials, set fire to a police post, burnt the Gypsy vehicle of the sub-divisional magistrate and a dozen other vehicles in the evening.

The firing is continuing.
