Another live bomb found in Surat

From correspondents in Gujarat, India, 07:55 AM IST

An unexploded bomb was found in this Gujarat city Monday near an electric transformer two days after 21 orchestrated bomb blasts killed at least 50 people in the state's major city of Ahmedabad.

The recovery of the latest bomb comes after two explosives-laden cars were discovered in Surat Sunday.

Panchayat and Civil Supplies Minister Narottam Patel, on a visit to the city, said: 'I came to Surat to thank the citizens and the police for their timely detection of explosives, thereby foiling terroists' attempt. But I was unaware that a bomb was recovered just half a km from my route.'

The police officials said the bomb was found Monday evening and was promptly defused.
