Apex court allows transfer of murder case involving politicians

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 01:04 PM IST

The Supreme Court Friday allowed a murder case trial involving two prominent politicians - MP Afzal Ansari and state legislator Mukhtar Ansari- to be transferred out of the district where it was being held.

The apex court suspended an Allahabad High Court ruling, which had dismissed a government plea to transfer the trial outside Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh.

A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan stayed the high court ruling on a plea by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is prosecuting the two politicians for their alleged role in a 2002 murder.
