85 passengers travel on India-Pakistan bus

From correspondents in Jammu and Kashmir, India, 11:03 PM IST

At least 85 passengers Thursday travelled on the cross border bus service between here and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

'Twenty-seven passengers, including 21 residents of Muzaffarabad (capital of Pakistani Kashmir), returned to their homes, and six from the Kashmir valley went across through the bus service to meet relatives,' said a police officer.

'In addition, 29 Kashmiris returned after visiting their relatives in Muzaffarabad and 29 residents of Muzaffarabad came here to meet members of their divided families,' a senior police officer said here.

The bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad across the Line of Control (LoC) - the de facto India-Pakistan border - runs once a fortnight.

Authorities had Wednesday announced that tickets for the trans-LoC bus service would be treated as curfew passes to facilitate the arrival of the passengers to the bus stand.
