'I am fed up' sings Kerala band against shutdowns

From correspondents in India, 06:32 PM IST

Fed up with frequent shutdowns in Kerala, a youth band here has come out with a music video against the crippling form of agitation.

'The song is titled 'I am fed up'. The music video will be released Sep 20,' said Adheesh Damodar, the producer of the video.

'In Kerala, for any issues big or small, various organisations will call hartals (shutdowns). It seems these organisations know only one way of registering protest,' added Damodar, a nursing graduate.

'For instance, there were 262 shutdowns, state-wide and local, in Kerala in 2006. These strikes are causing huge damage,' he says.

He said he was inspired by the work done by Hartal Virudha Munnani (Anti-shutdown Front) that campaigns against frequent and crippling shutdowns in the state. Munnani also helped them with the music video.

Damodar brought out music CD along with his schoolmates Ramesh Krishnan, Rishikesh M. and Vinod K.P.

While Vinod penned the lyrics, Ramesh Krishnan, a student at Thiruvananthapuram Music College, and Rishikesh, rendered the song.
