A city court Monday granted bail to seven Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) engineers who had been arrested early this month on graft charges.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had arrested 13 engineers on the basis of eight complaints of corruption against them pending since 2003. The cases related to charges of misusing funds through various modes, including substandard construction work.
Special Judge A.S. Yadav granted bail to the seven engineers on furnishing a bail bond of Rs.25,000 each.
Those granted bail are Pankaj Goel, C.B. Singh, S.K. Jain, S.C. Goel, Rajesh Sharma, D.D. Sharma and A.K. Gupta.
Though a section of the MCD officials cried foul over the arrests, ACB maintained the action was taken after prior permission.
