Five trains that run to and fro daily on the world heritage Kalka-Shimla rail line in Himachal Pradesh will remain off the tracks for a few more days due to landslides along the track, a senior railway official said Wednesday.

'The rail traffic that has remained suspended since Sep 19 would be restored after two or three days as the recent heavy rain has damaged the track at a number of points,' Shimla station superintendent P.S. Gill told IANS.

'Most of the 96-km-long narrow gauge railroad has been repaired and cleared of debris and now the work on 15-km track between Shogi and Shimla is in progress,' he said.

The century-old rail line that was built to the then summer capital of British India has been chosen by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation as a world heritage site.

The scenic journey along the rail line from 640 metres above sea level at Kalka to Shimla at 2,060 metres attracts large number of tourists every year.
