Thirty school children were feared to have drowned after the boat they were travelling in capsized Thursday in Sair river in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district, the police said.

'The incident occurred near the Teerupur ghat when the boat ferrying 40 school children overturned,' H.O. Sharma, district police superintendent, told IANS on phone.

'We have managed to take out 10 students and the relief operations are underway,' he said.

Pratapgarh district is about 150 km from here.
