Seven militants were killed in a gunbattle with army soldiers in western Assam's Dhubri district Friday morning, an official said.

Defence spokesperson Col. Rajesh Kalia said: 'Based on intelligence reports, an army column ambushed a group of terrorists. A gunbattle followed and seven of the militants were killed. A heavy consignment of explosives, including RDX, was recovered. We are in the process of identifying the terrorists.'
