15 crude bombs defused in Ahmedabad

From correspondents in Gujarat, India, 12:31 PM IST

As many as 15 crude bombs were recovered and defused in this Gujarat city Monday, a day before the nine-day Navratri celebrations begin, police said.

Officials said the bombs were found in small tobacco tins in Kalupur area of the city. They added the bombs were of low-intensity and were defused soon after.

The recovery of the bombs has caused some anxiety among the police force as it comes just before the festive season.

On July 26, serial bombings in Ahmedabad killed 56 people. In the days following the bombings, 23 low-intensity bombs were recovered from Surat and defused.

Such bomb defusing news are becoming routine. That is not bad, since terrorist acts are almost daily occurrences, with only that less common, serial blasts drawing more interest. Jihadists in our midst may be a tiny proportion but numberwise are considerable. Hence we have to live (and if we are unlucky, die) with such occurrences. We cannot really 'complain' about incompetent security network, since we are continuing to support politicians even while they put vote bank politics above our security and safety of life and property.
