Two people were killed and at least 10 passengers were seriously injured Thursday evening in a bus accident in a West Bengal town, the police said.

The accident took place at Ranihati area of Howrah town.

The privately-owned bus was on its way to Midnapore town from Kolkata. Near Ranihati the driver lost control of the bus around 7.30 p.m., killing two pedestrians on the spot, and injuring at least 10, district police superintendent Niraj K. Singh told reporters.
