Most newspapers in the Kashmir Valley suspended publication on the second day of curfew Monday as they claimed authorities had issued 'insufficient curfew passes' to their staff.

In a statement issued here, newspaper owners said insufficient curfew passes had been issued to their journalists and technical staff. As a mark of protest they had decided to shut down publication for the day, it said.

Curfew has been imposed throughout the valley since Sunday in a bid to stop a separatist march to the city centre Lal Chowk. Senior separatist leaders like Jameet-e-Ahle Hadis chief Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik have been arrested ahead of the march.
