Eight labourers were killed when a compound wall collapsed due to heavy rains Thursday evening at Nizampet, on the city's outskirts.

The police said the compound wall of an underconstruction gated community fell on the huts of the construction labourers, killing eight people. Among them was a woman. Two others were injured in the mishap.

The accident took place at Nizampet village of Qutbullapur mandal in the Ranga Reddy district.

Dundigal police inspector Venkat Reddy told IANS that the labourers working on the duplex houses were living in the huts close to the compound wall.
