Ten youths accused of raping a tribal girl were arrested Monday in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, police said.

The Class 12 students were arrested from their college hostel near Pathahatu village.

In her complaint to the police, the girl had said that one of the youths was known to her. On Sunday evening, he met her while she was going to the river to take a bath and asked her to visit the college hostel.

On reaching the hostel, she was allegedly raped by the boy and nine of his friends.

'The arrested youths would be sent to jail after being taken to court. A medical check up of the victim will be conducted to ascertain the facts,' a police official said.

'The girl is about 17 years of age, while the arrested youths are between 16 and 19,' he added.
