NDA meet called off

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 02:00 PM IST

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting to discuss its post-poll strategy, which was scheduled to be held here Monday, has been postponed indefinitely since the leaders were busy assessing the reasons for the poll debacle.

'Today's meeting has been postponed as leaders said they were busy discussing the NDA'S fall in the elections,' NDA convener Sharad Yadav told reporters here.

Rejecting reports of the alliance falling apart, Yadav said: 'In the last 15 years many people have come and gone but the NDA has remained. The NDA is very much there and it will continue.'

Asked whom he will prefer as the leader of opposition in parliament, Yadav said: 'It is the BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) internal matter and I don't want to interfere in it.'

The BJP-led alliance bagged 159 seats in the general elections.
