Get ready for muggy weekend

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 11:30 AM IST

If the hot and humid weather is getting on your nerves, then be prepared for a worse weekend. According to the weatherman, the humidity level will rise to over 60 percent Friday.

At 5.30 a.m. Friday the humidity level was recorded at 39 percent.

'The humidity level today will rise to the 61 percent mark, making the weather difficult for Delhiites. It will be the same over the next two days,' an official of the Safdarjung Met department said.

'There is an upper air cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan due to the western disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir. This is the reason for high humidity levels in New Delhi,' the official added.

To add to the residents' woes, the mercury level will also remain high.

The minimum temperature recorded early Friday was 30.1 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature will hover around 42 degrees Celsius, the official added.

'The skies will remain clear throughout the day. However, it will get partly cloudy by the evening,' said the weatherman.
