A 19-year-old student committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Safdarjung Hospital in south Delhi Wednesday evening.

'We received a call at around 7:30 about the incident that a young boy admitted in Safdarjung hospital has hanged himself,' a senior police officer said.

'The victim Santosh Kumar, a BCA student, was undergoing treatment at the hospital for last six months for a leg injury which he had suffered in an accident. On Wednesday evening, he sent his father Brahmeshwar and mother to bring something. While they were away, he hanged himself from the ceiling,' the police officer added.

The victim was a native of Bihar.

'His parents told us that he was very frustrated due to his bad health. However, no suicide note has been recovered from the place. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination and further investigations in the matter are on,' the police officer added.
