An eight-year-old boy died of his wounds Saturday after two of his friends attacked him with a pair of scissors here following a fight over a kite, police said.

Saddam, who lived in the Ompurwa area of this city, was stabbed in the chest by his friends, both 10 years old, Friday evening when he succeeded in catching a kite but did not give it to them when they asked, police inspector Satish Chandra Gautam told IANS.

He was rushed to a hospital where he died Saturday.

One of those who attacked Saddam has been caught, while the other is still at large.

Kanpur is about 80 km from state capital Lucknow.
