Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced snowfall while lower areas were lashed by showers Saturday, weather officials said.

'High-altitude areas of Lahaul and Spiti district saw mild snowfall, while mid and lower hills were lashed by showers. Shimla and its surrounding areas recorded 14 mm rainfall,' meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.

He said after the rain, the mercury plummeted sharply.

Reports of rain were also received from Solan, Mandi, Bhuntar, Dharamsala, Nahan, Sundernagar and Bilaspur.

The met office has forecast more rain or thundershowers in the state Sunday.
