A 20-year-old man allegedly drowned his 13-year-old brother and buried the body in a field in Pilkhuwa town of this Uttar Pradesh district, police said Tuesday.

Rahisu, the third of the four sons of Mumtaz, killed his younger brother Shahrukh Monday night. Police said the provocation for the crime was not known.

Police said Rahisu, married three months ago, drowned Shahrukh in a canal and buried the body in the nearby field.

When Shahrukh did not return his home till late Monday night, his parents lodged a complaint with police. However before police initiated investigation in the case, Rahisu confessed that he killed Shahrukh and led police to recover the body.

'We are investigating the case why a real brother killed his innocent younger brother that too a minor one,' said Superintendent of Police (rural) K.K. Asthana.

Rahisu was married to his maternal cousin. Police said Shahrukh had gone to meet his his sister-in-law at her parent's home.
