Spurious liquor kills six in Orissa

At least six people died and nine others fell sick after allegedly consuming illicit liquor in Orissa's Bolangir district, an official said Friday.

Some residents of Gondapali, Mundapali and Haladipada villages in Bolangir, 330 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, fell sick after consuming liquor Thursday night.

While three people died Thursday, others died Friday.

'The death toll rose to six and the number of people undergoing treatment to nine,' District Collector Aswathy S. told IANS.

She said at least nine people are undergoing treatment in three different hospitals. 'Five of them are out of danger and only one person is critical'.
