Maoist rebels blew up a school building in Jharkhand's Latehar district, police said Tuesday.

According to police officials, 11 school buildings have been blown up in the last one and a half months in Jharkhand since poll dates were announced.

According to police, Maoists Monday night blasted a government middle school situated in Newary village of Latehar district, around 145 km from here. Around 15 to 20 Maoist guerrillas surrounded the school at night and detonated explosives.

Latehar will go to the polls Dec 18.
