A 40-year-old woman died in southwest Delhi Tuesday when she accidentally fell from the sixth floor of an apartment she was working in as a domestic help.

Mariam Tirkey, who originally hails from Chhattisgarh, fell from the sixth floor of Sukh Sagar Apartments in Dwarka Sector 9, a police official said.

'She was taking down clothes hung for drying while standing on a cylinder, when she lost balance and fell. She died on the spot,' the official said.

Tirkey was working as a domestic help with Sudha, a manager with Airports Authority of India, for the past four years. Sudha's husband Megharaj is an engineer working in Dubai.

Police have ruled out foul play.
