India beats Vietnam in team chess, leads table

India defeated Vietnam 2.5-0.5 points in the fourth round of the classical Swiss mixed team chess competition to lead the standings with 10 points in the 15th Asian Games here Saturday.

Indian Grandmaster (GM) Sasikiran Krishnan defeated GM Thien Hai Dao to gain full point and GM Koneru Humpy beat Woman Grandmaster Thi Thanh An Nguyen, but their teammate GM P. Hrikrishna was held to a draw by GM Anh Dung Nguyen.

After leaders India are China with nine points, one full point behind, while Qatar is third with 8.5 points. Vietnam is fourth with 7.5 points.

Nine rounds will be played in this mixed competition that requires each three-member team to comprise two male players and one female.
