The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a two-day holiday for employees of private sector on the occasion of Muslim festival Eid-ul-Fitr.

'The private sector will have two days off work from the first and second of Shawal to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr,' the state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM) cited a labour ministry circular here Tuesday as stating.

According to forecasts by local astronomers here, the first and second days of the month of Shawal in the Islamic calendar are likely to fall Oct 1 and 2.
