From correspondents in Uttar Pradesh, India, 02:32 PM IST

Thanks to former students, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will set up a corpus fund of Rs.100 crore to raise its academic standards.

'Our ex-students will be raising the funds for the growth and expansion of their alma mater,' AMU spokesperson Rahat Abrar told IANS on telephone from Aligarh.

He added that as AMU's former students were spread across the globe, the varsity had decided to hold an international summit Oct 18-19 for their re-union.
