Indian surveyor dead in Dubai ship accident

An Indian surveyor with the Lloyds' Register of Shipping (LRS) died in Dubai Friday after he slipped and fell while surveying a ship, authorities said here Sunday.

According to the Director General of Shipping (DGS), Vishwanathan was inspecting an Indian ship, M.T. Prem Divya, in the Dubai Dry Docks.

After inspecting a ballast tank on the ship, the surveyor was coming out when he lost his grip and fell down a vertical ladder.

A team of Dubai police officials visited the scene of the accident and carried out investigations, as per reports sent by the Anglo-Eastern Ship Management to the DGS, Mumbai.
