Pakistan's attorney general resigns, successor appointed

The attorney general of Pakistan Malik Abdul Qayyum submitted his resignation here Wednesday, Geo TV channel reported.

Latif Khosa, a senator belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party, has been appointed as the new attorney general, the report said.

Malik Qayyum is a former judge and was appointed by former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf as attorney general in August last year.

The attorney general is the chief legal adviser to the Pakistani government.
