TN, like its neighbouring states of Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, has a respective calendar. Each begins on a different day which allows for the regional variations in the sun's movements connected with latitutde. Even most Muslims and Islams follow the same data for knowing auspiciousness, as Hindus, since all of us share same faith in a sense,as we are of same blood.But silly politicians like Karunanidhi drive a linguistic wedge. He is merely tyrannizing all of us with his thirdclass idea of what politics and governance are about.He is mad because of his opportunistic value to the Delhi coalition.

Muslims and Christians, like their Hindu brethren, use the same calendar in many cases, since the Hindu Panchangam and also the Daily sheet calendars following publish all the religious holidays, festivals, in the same sheets. The attempt of Karunanidhi to call it a Tamil calendar, and worse still, to impose it on Hindu temples, is most despicable and of course it will not be used once he goes off his position. He has done enough havoc just to crowcatch non-Hindus misusing Tamil as a guise.The Tamil calendar in use is ancient and most scientific, like Telugu and Kannada ones.

Our Tamilnadu CM decession is correct. We are tamilian and we want to celebrate our new year in Tamilar day ( Pongal ) My Answer for the Priest quated reg.the Christian and Muslim calendar. In India We dont have any Hindu Calendar Every state or language people are having a seprate calendar. I request the priest to cordinate the all the state to follow the comman calendar then we can call as a hindu calendar
