Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's controversial remarks on north Indian people led to clashes in parts of Maharashtra Sunday. While the state government ordered a high-level probe into the violence, a group called for a protest shutdown in Mumbai Monday.12:00 AM on February 04
This probe should better be abandoned since it is a mere pre-poll propaganda stunt, and any findings, coming after a decade, just cannot be implemented against Thackeray or his men. Amitabh and Samajwadi Party men should have, in the first place, avoided their indiscrete behaviour which lay at the root of this violence.
Ambikrishnan Wednesday, February 06, 2008I spent about four decades in Mumbai until my retirement when I had to move to Bangalore for my care and support. My heart and soul developed strong emotional bonds with Mumbai and Maharashtra, given its very cosmopolitan as well as native Indian culture, which any and every Indian loves, much more than the job he gets there for livelihood. I feel sorry that Amitabh, probably for some funny political consideration, displayed an adamance in not developing similar bonds, and regarding his ties with UP where he was born, with an illusory superiority in his heart. This, when he has acquired a permanent place in ALL Indians.
Sanket .P. Shinde Monday, February 04, 2008Yes i completely support "RAJSAHEB". The MNS activists have 'RETALIATED' as the SP supportrers had passed comments. And if such a big person like "Amitabh" feels for his homeland, UP then can't we Mharashtrians feel for our Maharashtra. The Indian Constitution doesn't restrict any Indian from settling in any state, but it also tells you to respect the culture, sanctity of that region. I will not tolerate any bihari, bbaiyaa etc whatever to come in my MAHARASHTRA and spoil the land. These people should be ashamed that they cannot convert their bihar/UP to MAharashtra. Don't come and spoil my state. "Convert ur Bihar/UP into Maharashtra and not my MAHARASHTRA into shitty Bihar/UP."
