The central government should ensure speedy implementation of the farm loan waiver scheme, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Thursday.
At a meeting here to review preparations for this year's kharif crop, Chouhan expressed concern over cooperative banks' loan recovery being affected because of the delay in implementation of the waiver and the consequent impact on loan disbursals for kharif crops, officials said.
'The central government should soon issue the scheme's package description besides providing the loan waiver amount in cash to cooperative banks. This should have been done at least a month back,' he said.
He earlier this month wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to issue detailed guidelines for the Rs.600 billion farm loan waiver package announced in the union budget.
