UPA-Left meet ends, showdown averted

India's ruling coalition and its Left allies Wednesday averted a showdown by ending a key meeting over the India-US nuclear deal saying they will meet again 'in due course'.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee read out a brief statement at the end of talks between the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the four Left parties that support Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's government.
