Straight from the Samajwadi leader's mouth

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 07:00 PM IST

It was a no holds barred press conference in which an irascible Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh spoke out on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Left, Anil Ambani, Amitabh Bachchan and even US presidential hopeful Barack Obama. As he said it:

I had only said that the trio of (BJP leader) L.K. Advani, (Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister) Mayawati and (Gujarat Chief Minister) Narendra Modi are more dangerous than (US President) George Bush.

I congratulate the BJP as the saffron-red quarrel has ended. Red-saffron have become one.

Red, Saffron and Elephant (BSP) want to 'halal' (kill) me.

Advaniji is feeling dejected and disappointed because of not becoming prime minister.

Please keep abusing me, I am highly obliged.

BJP is finished in Uttar Pradesh, they should first take care of their house.

Who is more credible? (Former president) A.P.J. Abdul Kalam or Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie? If they want they can ask Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to do an opinion poll.

I am only following the path of great people. The CPI-M had demanded a windfall tax on oil companies and I am just repeating it. Even (US presidential candidate) Barack Obama had advocated the same.

(Petroleum Minister) Murli Deora should not continue as minister because of his proximity with a particular industrial house.

If I will become a minister, I will not take up telecom or the information and broadcasting ministry as I have relations with Anil Ambani and Amitabh Bachchan.
