JD-S to vote against UPA in trust vote

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 06:31 PM IST

Ending days of speculation, the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) Sunday announced it would vote against the UPA government in Tuesday's trust vote.

The party, which has three MPs in the Lok Sabha, had been keeping political parties guessing on whether it would support the Manmohan Singh government.

Asked what stand the party was taking, JD-S leader H.D. Kumaraswamy told reporters: 'We are voting against the government.'

'You can understand why we are here. It is not just the nuclear deal but also in the interest of the state politics that we have to take the decision.'
