Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Avinash Rai Khanna Sunday said it was a pity Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be 'a hapless spectator' when his government's fate is decided in the Lok Sabha Tuesday because he cannot take part in the trust vote.

Khanna said that it was perhaps the first time in the history of independent India when the prime minister would sit outside the house while the government's fate is decided in the lower house.
