BJP will continue agitation for Amarnath land: Mishra

From correspondents in Uttar Pradesh, India, 09:02 PM IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday reiterated its demand for restoration of the land transfer to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board for pilgrim facilities.

'Our party will continue to protest till the land is re-allotted to the shrine board,' senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra told reporters here.

Cancelling the land allotted earlier to the shrine board was against the national interest, he added.

He blamed Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra for cancelling land allotment and demanded his removal.

The Kashmir Valley and Jammu region have witnessed violent protests over the state government decision to allot - and then cancel - 40 hectares of land to the shrine board.
