Mayawati transfers three officials

From correspondents in Uttar Pradesh, India, 04:00 AM IST

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati late Tuesday transferred some senior bureaucrats who were once perceived as influential members of her administration.

They include two principal secretaries to the chief minister - Shailesh Krishna and V.N. Garg, who were entrusted with the charge of several key sectors in Mayawati's secretariat. Both belong to the 1980 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Garg has been shifted to the industries department, while no charge has been given to Krishna.

Appointments Secretary Anoop Pandey, who handled transfers and postings of senior bureaucrats, was also shifted.

While J.N. Chamber replaces Garg as principal secretary in the chief minister's secretariat, no one has been named to succeed Krishna or Pandey.
