A private plane carrying Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram from Delhi to Coimbatore, Tamil nadu, Thursday made an emergency landing in Bangalore after one of its engines developed a snag, airport sources here said.

'It was a GMR plane. It made a priority landing because of some problem in its right engine,' a source said.

Another plane was chartered for Gandhi to fly to Tamil Nadu, a state Congress party leader said. Gandhi was to address a public meeting in Erode. She was to land in Coimbatore and drive down to Erode.
