The Bajrang Dal is a terrorist outfit and the central government will not hesitate to ban it like it outlawed the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), says Union Minister of State for Home Shakeel Ahmad.
'There is little doubt that the Bajrang Dal is a terrorist outfit involved in creating terror. The central government may ban it as it has banned SIMI,' Ahmad told IANS over telephone from his Bihar constituency Madhubani.
'The centre will ban Bajrang Dal if four to five state governments send reports making it clear that Bajrang Dal activities led to terror.'
He said there was enough evidence to suggest that the activities of the radical Hindu group were leading to terror and that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government would not hestitate to ban it.
'If the activities of any outfit create terror, it is regarded as a terrorist outfit,' the minister, who is also spokesperson of the Congress, added.
The spotlight is back on the Bajrang Dal after a spate of violence targeting Christians and churches in the country, particularly Orissa and Karnataka.

My dear friends, understand that Baj Rang dal looks like terrorists. They cannot resort to violence even seeing mass conversions by Vision India, which gets crores of Rupees illegally. Only a law must be made until then keep quiet. Due to about 20 to 25 percent of total votes being minority votes, all politicians who use those votes in counting the total, will not like the ban.So think and act, dont indulge in physical violence, but do social service for Dalits, tribals, etc.like education, hospital, etc. They will keep mischievous missionaries away.
SIMI is a terrorist gang. Only some people like Lalus or Amars pretend ignorance of this fact as they want huge Muslim minoritty votes. All good Muslims must stop voting such hypocrites. SIMI is anti Islam. Baj Rang should avoid physical hurtig of Christians but move for ban on conversions as in many countries. Then people like Hon. Shakeel Ahamad will have even less justification to try to treat Bajrang like a terror outfit.
Christian fundamentalism arises due to the church literally clinging to some outworn apostelic exhortations on evangelism, proselytising, conversion, crusade. Due to this lot of resistance on followers of local religions. This corresponds to Islamist Jihads. There is no such fundamentalism in Hindu texts, please consider.
Though no fan of Bajrang or other organizations, I think that this kind of thinking among our politicians is mere excuse for their unwillingness to do what is really warranted: set up a highly powerful, autonomous and politically insulated central setup to gather unbelievably fine details of the terrorirsts, their foreign connections for funds and plans and stooges on Indin an soil. Such an agency is MOST immediately required to destroy the very roots of any Islamist terrorism in India. The other crucial step to be taken by Central government is to make a law granting freedom of religious expression clarifying that it is not a licence for divisive conversions.
By banning SIMI it has not ceased its terrorist activities. so people know what a ban really means.
