Karunanidhi admitted to hospital with backache

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was early Monday admitted to a private hospital here after complaining of severe backache, a DMK spokesperson said.

'The chief minister was admitted to hospital after experiencing acute back pain. He is feeling better now,' said the spokesperson.

    There is a rumour that Mr Karunanidhi is wont to malingering with illness as a convenient expedient due to political reasons, let alone the fact that he is of ripe age which can cause ailments. In this instance, he may be using this illness to absent himself from Republic Day celebraions in Chennai, as a gesture to express his solidarity with the Sir Lankan Tamil separatism.

    Age takes its toll despite whatever a man may do by way of self discipline - slowly when one as imbibed a modium of self- discipline, and rapidly when not when medicines and "professional" advice will only eat your resources with heavy bills looking at what you have earned through hard work. And Mr Karunanidhi, to the extent he had a great family environment in this respect, has been practising Yogic exercises quite religiously, even though he is religion-baiter and further, they do not conflict with his godlessness (Nireeshwara vaada, miscalled Naastika). His Yogic discipline no doubt helped him with a clarity of thinking besides immense physical strength, which are so useful to Mr K.in his long and successful innings in politics, literature and social commitment due to which he never indulges in the kind of Hitlerian tortures of the communities he feels aggrieved by.
